Can an ADHD person be the gaslighter?
I’m not sure if my ADHD husband is just a narcissist, but many of the gaslighting descriptions seem to reflect his behavior.
He is manipulative, passive-aggressive, and controlling. He uses his ADHD symptoms to explain his lack of responsibility and that it’s impossible for him to “get things done “. He pushes for me to take them over, “since, you’re so much better at it” and “you’re going to take over anyway!” I have plenty to do… homeschooling for 8 years, child enrichment acttivites (Girl Scout leader/cookie mom too), taking care of household chores/cooking, along with running a full-time small business. I’m a driven person that can take care of alot! But to be sabotaged from the shadows by him, when he’s the one who demanded that I take on the bills, schedule and plan everything, and take care of bids for home repairs, etc.
Ive been pushed into taking on the loose ends that he “can’tdo because he’s ADHD”, then he complains and chastises me for being “controling”. He wont take the tasks back, even though I’ve begged for him to do so.
I’m at a loss….Is this gaslighting? Or just passive-agressive behavior? ADHD mind games (guilt and shame responses) because he has difficulty completing tasks?
Help! 30+ years of this, and I’m drowning!
