Registered Psychotherapist; trauma therapist; ADHD coach
Heartfulness Psychotherapy
Description:

So often people over-identify themselves with their symptoms, leading to feelings of guilt, shame, and/or inadequacy. As an ADHD coach, I have a neurodiversity-positive empowering approach that helps clients embrace and optimize their unique mind style. I strive to help clients identify how their ADHD symptoms may be impacting different aspects of their life to gain greater clarity about who they are beyond their symptoms and what steps are needed to help them thrive. You are not your symptoms. I believe coaching/therapy should be practical, actionable, and skills-oriented to help you get the best results and achieve positive lasting change as quickly as possible. As a client-centered therapist, I value and integrate each client’s preferences and goals in the coaching/therapy process.

My therapeutic approach is informed by evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (inner child parts work), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Interpersonal/Relational Psychotherapy, among others. I am trauma-informed and have received specialized training in trauma treatment as well as ADHD coaching. I am culturally inclusive, diversity-sensitive, and have experience living and practicing internationally. My ADHD coaching approach integrates motivational interviewing, goal-centered solution-focused therapy, CBT, and interpersonal neurobiological research.

I am currently completing a doctor of psychology (PsyD) at California Southern University, where my doctoral research is investigating the intersection of ADHD, trauma, attachment, rejection sensitivity, emotional dysregulation, chronic stress, sensitivity, and other secondary issues in ADHD that are often overlooked by our current evidence-based treatment approaches. This experience has greatly strengthened my expertise in trauma-informed ADHD therapy. I additionally hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McMaster University with a Specialization in Cognition and Perception. This knowledge of cognitive sciences greatly enriches my work as an ADHD coach as it allows me to provide psychoeducation (scientific information) to help clients better understand their brains and minds. Many people find this information normalizing and empowering, as it depathologizes neurodiversity and gives us a road map forward. Overall, my approach is compassionate, scientific (admittedly nerdy), and to the point! I look forward to supporting your personal journey.

ADHD specialized services offered include: coaching, therapy, psychopharmalogical (medical) treatment consultation, and support with self-screening symptoms. (I.e., I am unable to offer formal assessments, diagnoses, or medical prescriptions, but can provide consultation and guidance about such).

Services are offered online throughout Canada and internationally.
