It is now accepted that medications are the treatments of choice for ADHD at all ages from 3 years and up. No other modality of treatment produces the same quick and dramatic improvement. And yet there are few other aspects of ADHD so filled with misinformation, lack of technical of skill, and false fear.
This podcast covers the 1st line stimulant medications. An easy-to-follow methodology will be proved to choose the most effective medication at all ages across the lie cycle, fine-tune the dose to optimal benefit, and then manage any side effects that may happen. Techniques to enhance sticking with treatment will be discussed.
- The participant will be able distinguish the relative merits of medication vs. non-medication-based treatments in ADHD so that these can be clearly understood by the parents of children and adult patients.
- The participant in coordination with their clinician will be able to choose among the various medications available to treat ADHD, quickly fine-tune the medication to optimal response, and then manage any side effects.
- The participant will understand the process by which people slip out of medication treatment that is working well and how to preempt non-adherence to treatment.
Who: Dr. Bill Dodson
Dr. Dodson is a board certified adult psychiatrist who has specialized in adults with ADHD for the last 25 years. He was named a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in recognition of his clinical contributions to the field of ADHD (2012). He was recipient of the Maxwell Schleifer Award for Distinguished Service to Persons with Disabilities (2006). Dr. Dodson has a private practice in Greenwood Village, CO.
