Description

Motivation is an emotional topic. It is judged subjectively. Those with ADHD are often accused of being unmotivated. That is simply not true. The fact of the matter is that those with ADHD are highly motivated. The problem is that no one considers the impact of executive function impairment when they judge people with ADHD. In this webinar we’ll rewrite your understanding of motivation by defining it as an extension of Dr. Russell Barkley’s work to account for the impairment. This new lens reveals motivational truths hidden in plain sight and points toward a new future of relief and productivity!

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the impact of executive functioning impairments to change the way we judge motivation
  • Understand ways to provide relief to impairments that impact productivity
  • Realize motivation is something you can engineer

Cognitive Ergonomics From the Inside Out®… Cog-Erg for short

Cog-Erg is a revolutionary ADHD intervention that teaches individuals to observe their own thinking processes rather than forcing their brains into neurotypical molds. It combines engineering principles with mindfulness to design personalized thinking accommodations, transforming how people manage executive function. The concept revolves around shifting the current paradigm and offering a more pragmatic approach to attention and mental fatigue. It focuses on modifying the individual’s environment and workflows to map directly to the individual’s natural cognitive constraints. It allows the individual to pinpoint the root cause of attention or emotional challenges so they can intuitively design interfaces and systems that make thinking and problem-solving easier.

ADHD, Self-Regulation, and Life Expectancy: A Public Health Problem

In this eBook, Dr. Russell Barkley, world-renowned ADHD thought leader, has shared his new construct of ADHD that looks at ADHD as an executive functioning issue, largely one of self-regulation. In 2019, Dr. Barkley released new research with startling findings around the reduced life expectancy of those with ADHD. In this eBook, ADHD coach Jeff Copper discusses the impact of self-regulation on life expectancy with Dr. Barkley. They talk about research and the role self-regulation plays in reducing life expectancy. The research is sobering, but the good news is that those with ADHD can do something about it. This is an eBook you should read and reread to understand self-regulation as a second-tier variable that drives many of the factors that impact life expectancy so you will understand how important it is to manage self-regulation and gain the promise and hope for the future.
