Many adults with ADHD notice their symptoms intensify in midlife—but it’s often unclear whether hormones, menopause, or “just getting older” are to blame. In this webinar, Linda Roggli breaks down how hormonal changes—especially shifts in estrogen—interact with dopamine, executive function, memory, mood, and emotional regulation in the ADHD brain.
Drawing on current research and lived experience, this session explores how monthly hormone fluctuations, perimenopause, and menopause each affect attention, focus, motivation, and brain fog—and why ADHD symptoms can suddenly feel more severe or unpredictable during these transitions. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how hormones and menopause overlap, where they differ, and why ADHD brains are uniquely sensitive to these changes.
This session is designed to replace confusion and self-blame with insight, context, and clarity for adults with ADHD navigating midlife transitions.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how hormonal changes—particularly shifts in estrogen—interact with dopamine, executive function, memory, mood, and emotional regulation in adults with ADHD
- Differentiate how monthly hormone fluctuations, perimenopause, and menopause uniquely affect attention, focus, motivation, and brain fog in the ADHD brain
- Recognize why ADHD symptoms may intensify or become less predictable during midlife hormonal transitions, replacing confusion and self-blame with understanding and context

Confessions of an ADDiva: midlife in the non-linear lane
First prize award-winner for Women’s Issues in the “Next Generation Indy Book Awards.” Is it ADD or is it AGE? It might be both, as the author discovered when she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder at age 45. “Confessions of an ADDiva” traces her journey from denial (“Does this mean I have ‘dain bramage?'”) to acceptance (“I’ve stopped apologizing to doorknobs.”). Written with a good twist of humor and a tender dose of poignancy, “Confessions” shines a light on women whose unrecognized ADD-ish symptoms have reached a crescendo at “that certain age.” Brain fog, memory malfunction, running late to appointments, losing the car keys (and reading glasses) are only part of the fun of midlife ADD.
