Description

What does it take to build a community where neurodivergent and queer adults can truly thrive—not just survive? For LGBTQ+ adults with ADHD, traditional community models often fall short. Long meetings, unspoken norms, and social pressure can lead to masking, burnout, and exclusion. But there’s a better way.

Join coach and neuroqueer advocate Dylan Alter for a fresh, affirming, and radically practical session on creating ADHD-friendly, queer-affirming community spaces. Drawing from lived experience and collective insights from the Neuroqueer.org project, Dylan will walk attendees through the real challenges—and real possibilities—of building intentional, inclusive communities that celebrate difference, accommodate fluctuation, and foster genuine connection.

You’ll leave inspired, supported, and equipped with strategies you can start using now—whether you’re building your own space or finding your place in one.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand why community is uniquely impactful for LGBTQ+ adults with ADHD, and how it supports identity, resilience, and mental health
  • Explore the barriers that ADHDers and queer folks face in traditional spaces—and how to design for accessibility, flexibility, and real belonging
  • Discover actionable strategies for showing up, contributing, and co-creating joyful, low-pressure communities that work for you

Who: Dylan Alter, JD, PCC, CACP

Biography

Dylan Marie Alter, JD, PCC, CACP, AACC (they) is a nonbinary ADHD coach, attorney, educator, and consultant of Jewish and Choctaw heritage. A passionate advocate for neurodiversity, Dylan provides individual, group coaching, consulting and workshops for marginalized voices often excluded from mainstream ADHD support. With a dynamic career spanning law, culinary arts, academia, and farming, they bring a wealth of lived experience to their work. Since their own revelatory diagnosis, Dylan has incorporated psychology, neuroscience, queer theory, and intersectionality to support other neurodivergent folks and challenge restrictive norms. They founded Neuroqueer.org, a member-led online community center for LGBTQ+ neurodivergent adults. Forever a tender-hearted neurodivergent nerd, forever themselves.
