Description

For queer folks with ADHD, relationships can get real complicated. Masking, rejection sensitivity, and trying to “seem professional” while dealing with systems that weren’t built for us. It affects how we show up with friends, in dating, and at work.

I’ll dig into how unmasking (whether it’s ADHD or queerness) is its own kind of coming out and how that shapes who we feel safe with. I’ll also share personal stories about being discriminated against for being openly queer and having my ADHD written off as laziness, plus how I work with clients to build relationships that don’t require shrinking themselves to be accepted.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how masking and rejection sensitivity show up in queer ADHDers and how they impact platonic, romantic, and professional relationships
  • Explore the emotional and social parallels between coming out as queer and ADHD
  • Learn how to create safer, more authentic relationships by recognizing red flags, honoring your needs, and finding people who don’t require you to shrink yourself

For queer folks with ADHD, relationships can be especially messy. Navigating rejection sensitivity, masking, and the pressure to appear “professional” in systems that weren’t built for us, it all takes a toll. These challenges shape how we connect with friends, partners, and colleagues, and how safe we feel showing up as our full selves.

In this honest and deeply personal session, Jamie Cutino explores what it means to unmask, whether that’s about ADHD, queerness, or both, and how that journey mirrors the experience of coming out. She’ll share stories of being dismissed, misunderstood, and discriminated against, along with insights from her work helping clients build relationships that don’t require them to shrink or hide who they are.

If you’ve ever struggled to find people who get you or felt like you had to choose between being accepted and being yourself, this session is for you.
