Description

Beneath the visible symptoms, many adults with ADHD experience a significant and often overlooked emotional burden. This webinar explores the psychological impact that can come with living with ADHD, including chronic frustration, shame, low self-esteem, and the cumulative effects of repeated experiences of failure, criticism, and feeling “different.” Years of misunderstanding or compensating for ADHD symptoms can contribute to negative self-beliefs, anxiety, depression, burnout and poor physical health. The focus, however, will be on combatting this negative impact by changing a maladaptive mindset through acquaintance with the research literature, building self-compassion, challenging negative thought patterns, improving self-advocacy and the therapeutic role of humor. The speaker, who has ADHD, will share clinical, as well as personal anecdotes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the emotional consequences that are commonly seen in adults with ADHD
  • Cite a strategy for self-compassion
  • Discuss how humor can be used as a therapeutic tool

When: Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: From the comfort of your own home
Who: Roberto Olivardia, Ph.D.
