The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks

In the Productivity Powerhour+ (Pomodoro Style)  sessions we will have three 25 minute work periods each with a 5 minute break. During the break we talk about our challenges, share our wins, or brainstorm ways to get unstuck.

We use the ZOOM app, accessible by computer, smartphone, tablet and landline.

ADDA members from coast to coast connect via ZOOM. Each person has a To Do List, maybe chores they have been procrastinating about: Cleaning off desks, sorting and filing paperwork, preparing tax documents, and so on.

The session begins with everyone stating aloud their goal for the first 25 minute pomodoro cycle. Then everyone mutes their line and gets down to business.

We reconvene by ZOOM in 25 minutes for an accountability check-in as well as to brainstorm if someone is stuck.

While the other participants on ZOOM are not literally in the room together, attendees can feel their presence all the same.  Knowing you will need to check in about your progress—and that you can get support if you are stuck—makes all the difference.

Getting stuff done together makes working a lot more fun.

” I love ADDA’s pomodoro style productivity group.  Very quickly there is a strong sense of mutual support, non-judgemental and affirming of wherever you are and whatever you are doing. -Sara”

Join us and together we can get stuff done.

Sorry I was unaware of Zoom meetings and got time wrong. I don’t understand how to break up tasks into 25 minutes, could you give examples?

Hi! I’m new to ADDA so I haven’t joined this group yet, but I use a pomodoro app from time to time when I remember (I don’t know if I do it exactly right but the app has timers set already and also googled how to use it easy). For example if I need to clean up, doing dishes or just organizing something I try to remember using it. I set the pomodoro timer which is usually 25 minutes and when time is up it starts the 5 minute break automatically. There’s both apps and websites to set up these timers, you can also write in the apps what it is you want to do and set up how much time you need. Two timers will work but for me it takes my attention away having to change timers. Then I do the dishes/cleaning up the kitchen until the timer goes of. The 5 minute break starts. I take a break until it goes of again and the next 25 minute task will start. I have used it as a check in for my self because I tend to start focusing on something completely different and forgetting all about what I was supposed to do. Also making the tasks a bit smaller when breaking it down to 25 min. You can use it to do what you want/need but have a goal for what you want to do the first time and check in with yourself when the alarm rings and take a break 🙂 I’m going to try this group, I really like the pomodoro method but I have trouble with ignoring when the 25 minutes is up. This was hard to explain in English but I hope I managaged to explain a little bit 😀
