Evelyn Polk Green

Evelyn Polk Green, MSEd, is a nationally respected ADHD advocate who brings equal parts expertise, lived experience, and humor to every conversation. A past president of both ADDA and CHADD, Evelyn has spent decades ensuring that families, educators, and adults with ADHD have a seat at the table—and a voice that’s actually heard.

She is an adult with ADHD, the mother of two adult sons with ADHD, and the proud grandmother of a 2½-year-old grandson who already runs the show. Her own ADHD journey began at Duke University, where it disrupted her early education, and later led her to earn degrees from National Louis University and Northern Illinois University.

For nearly 30 years, Evelyn has been a leader in child and adult mental health advocacy, with a strong focus on marginalized and underserved communities. She has represented the family and educator perspective at national forums including the National Institutes of Mental Health, the U.S. Surgeon General’s Office, and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

Currently a member of the ADHD Expert Consortium, Evelyn is also a frequent speaker, writer, and media contributor. Her work has appeared in ADDitude Magazine, The New York Times, and on national news programs and podcasts. Among many honors for her advocacy work, she was recently inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame.

After retiring from a 39-year career with Chicago Public Schools, Evelyn continues to advocate, teach, and speak -while plotting her eventual escape from Midwestern winters to somewhere much warmer. Advocacy, after all, doesn’t require snow boots.
