Webinar: Is That All There Is? Optimizing ADHD Medications with William Dodson

The medications used to treat ADHD are among the most effective and safe medications in all of medicine. Often, however, they are not fine-tuned to the unique individual patient and forfeit a significant amount of their benefits unnecessarily. Worse still, poorly fine-tuned medications can cause unpleasant side effects can lead people to not take their medications as often as they need to or to stop medications altogether saying. “I tried medications and they didn’t help me.” This presentation looks at how children and adults with ADHD can objectively determine whether they are taking enough medications to get all of the possible benefits but not too much that would cause side effects…. the so-called “sweet spot dose.” If the medication and dose are not optimized, the presentation will give a method by which the person and their prescribing clinician can make adjustments to get the most out of the medication component of treatment.
Learning objectives:
- To be able to determine if the current ADHD medication and dose are optimized in order to get everything that the medication component of ADHD treatment has to offer.
- To provide a simple and logical method for the patient and their prescribing clinician to adjust and optimize ADHD medications.
- To begin to understand what the various classes of ADHD medications can do well (and what they cannot be expected to do) and how to discuss the possibility of additional medication trials with your prescriber.

Have been hoping to hear Dr. Dodson’s advice about ADHD meds and vitamin C for more than a year. This presentation and the Q and A provided a number of leads to ways to improve effectiveness of meds that have been prescribed. Very helpful.
