Effective management of ADHD takes self awareness, planning and behavioral/ emotional regulation. Yet these are the very capabilities ADHD affects. Research shows regular Mindfulness practices can strengthen the “muscle” of attention and improve executive functioning.
This presentation will teach one promising mindfulness practice created by renowned psychiatrist and neurologist Dr Daniel Siegel, author of Mindsight, The Mindful Brain and Brainstorm. The “Wheel of Awareness” is an effective attention training tool that integrates brain functioning so that people with ADHD and other challenges can train the mind to press the pause button. This practice improves the ability to plan and execute effective emotional and behavioral responses throughout the day.
Participants will learn how and why it works and have the opportunity to practice a portion of the wheel.
