With ADD/ADHD, the tendency to get overwhelmed can be triggered by many different kinds of situations that vary widely from one person to the next.
To end YOUR overwhelm, you need to be able to:
- recognize it the moment you feel it, and
- identify what is really causing it at that moment.
Obvious triggers are ones like getting one more assignment on an already over-full schedule, or being presented with information in a way your brain can’t process.
But often overwhelm is more complex because it is actually a by-product of another problem. This kind of overwhelm is commonly triggered for people with ADD /ADHD by challenges such as:
- realizing you don’t know where to find the information you need
- not being able to break down a large project
- feeling paralyzing shame over not knowing an answer
To manage the overwhelm, you would have to deal with the underlying problem at its root, which could potentially include disorganization, poor executive functioning skills, a habit of self-blame… or a host of others.
This webinar will help you gain insight into what your own most common overwhelm triggers are, and the kinds of solutions that will help you break through that mental paralysis to reach productive thought and action.
