Women have a lot on their plate: they still tend to take on more of the childcare and home responsibilities, often while working full time. “Keeping it all together” can be difficult for any woman, but for a woman with ADHD, it can be overwhelming, causing poor self-esteem, anxiety and depression. To make things even more complicated, changes in hormones typically cause an increase in ADHD symptomatology, making these women feel even more stressed out.

Women with ADHD also tend to hide their difficulties and rarely reach out for help. Society has taught girls from an early age to be the caregivers and to keep a tidy home with well behaved children. But when ADHD is in the picture, it can be difficult to manage all of the expectations set forth by society and a woman’s own unrealistic expectations.

This casual Q/A session will explore the many special challenges women with ADHD face and what they can do to make their lives easier and less stressful.
