A common experience of people with ADHD is spending immense amounts of time, energy, and emotional bandwidth trying to keep up with expectations, responsibilities, and obligations. These responses to external and internalized messages of what we should be doing and how we should be doing them often results in feelings of being continually behind, exhausted, and too stretched to pause and make space to reflect and consider that simply surviving isn’t the only option in front of us.
The concepts and questions you’ll be invited to entertain during this workshop are simple at face value. For those willing to reflect and feel more deeply, nuanced complexity is but a scratch below the surface. Just the paradox our neurodivergent brains love!
Come with pen & paper to explore some possibilities (or to doodle if that’s a way your brain gets engaged!) This will be more of a workshop-style presentation, with opportunities for participants to play along. You are encouraged to give yourself this hour to make space for wondering, dreaming, and discovering.
- Identify signs of being in optimal states for health, growth, and restoration, and try out a couple of basic strategies for fostering those states within yourself.
- Recognize the importance of understanding the context of YOUR situation. Explore questions to help identify YOUR solid ground from which you can begin to use your curiosity as a springboard for thriving rather than surviving.
- Invite, in a playful, no-consequences way, an exploration of expanding options; to consider what else might be possible for you. Discover some starting points from which to begin to break the hold that “shoulds” have on your daily life.
