We’ve got an excellent “TADD” Talk for you today! As part of ADHD Awareness Month and our special activities, ADDA has created TADD Talks, where we’ll be Talking about ADD every day the entire month of October!
In today’s TADD talk, Terry Matlen, ACSW discusses “Women with ADHD: Why is My ADHD Getting Worse?”
Enjoy!
And if you enjoyed today’s TADD Talk, you’ll want to learn more about what Terry has to offer.
Many women with ADHD find their memory and other cognitive function worsen with age and/or certain circumstances. Is it dementia? Alzheimer’s? I will discuss how and why women with ADHD often find their symptoms worsening and what they can do about it. You can learn more about Terry at Queens of Distraction.

Very informative. I firmly believe that once I went into peri-menopause I was unable to compensate for the ADHD weaknesses. I remember very clearly when my working memory and word retrieval problems started. It was very scary because I thought it was dimentia and the realization that I’m getting old. I also now know why my Mom couldn’t remember or mixed up her 5 kids names. Losing my working memory affected my job performance because I work in a fast paced environment and counted heavily on remembering action plans in my head. Today I can’t finish a sentence without blanking on the key word. My husband has shown great patience with me when that happens.
Thank you for this talk. It makes me feel better
It is like music to my ears to hear someone talk about the struggles I have had throughout my life. It helps just to know that it is not “all in my head” and that someone else understands. Getting from there to the solutions is difficult. But at least I can have the confidence to know that there are external reasons so many things have been more difficult for me.
