Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA)
Organizational Overview

The Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) is designated as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. This international organization has been in existence since 1989. The mission of ADDA is to provide information, resources and networking to adults with AD/HD and to the professionals who work with them. In doing so, ADDA generates hope, awareness, empowerment and connections worldwide in the field of AD/HD. Bringing together scientific perspectives and the human experience, the information and resources provided to individuals and families affected by AD/HD and professionals in the field focuses on diagnoses, treatments, strategies and techniques for helping adults with AD/HD lead better lives.

ADDA currently provides the following activities and resources to its members:

  • An annual national conference
  • FOCUS, the quarterly publication of the organization
  • A web site
  • Written tools, such as ADDA's "Guiding Principles for Coaching Individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder"
  • Products such as audio and video tapes on a wide range of adult AD/HD topics
  • AD/HD Teleclasses
  • Networking opportunities for adults with AD/HD as well as for the professionals who work with them.
  • Advocacy in the field of adult AD/HD

ADDA Board members also regularly provide expert information on adult AD/HD for a variety of media sources including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Vogue, WebMD, the BBC, and Oprah. In addition, ADDA has also developed the Adult AD/HD Fact Sheets for the National Resource Center on AD/HD funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Our Mission: Attention Deficit Disorder Association, ADDA, provides information, resources and networking opportunities to help adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) lead better lives. We provide hope, empowerment and connections worldwide by bringing together science and the human experience for both adults with AD/HD and professionals who serve them.
